Blessings

We had three people come over yesterday to give us a bid on the air conditioning system. The first two were commercial companies we had either heard about or had used before and both of their bids were anywhere from $4,800 to $7,000, depending on the bells and whistles.

Then Brady called the FM (Facilities Management) manager at the Church area office here and he recommended someone who does all the church's maintenance on it's heating and cooling systems. Brady knows him well since we sees him from time to time as he is traveling around to different buildings and he always seems to run into Bill (the man who was recommended). So he called him and Bill said he would stop by on his way home from work and look at it. To make a long story short, we were sleeping in the cool of our house by 9:30 p.m. He said that our existing unit wasn't broken beyond repair, and said it probably still had a lot of life left in it, just needed some cleaning and tightening of things. It had leaked all of the freon out so he put more in, fixed the leak, and $86 later, we were good to go. Can you believe it???

We are going to replace our unit because we both think it's a good time (well...whenever is it a GOOD time to spend $5,000??), but Bill said he could do it for around $4,000 for the same type of unit the other boys were going to charge us $5,500 for so we'll probably have him do it while we are in Utah this summer. For now, though, we are cool again.

It was a little frustrating to have that first guy who came out here put us in a frenzy thinking we had to make a big decision like that overnight and I wonder why people can't just be honest. Thank goodness for Bill. He told me that he relys so much on the Lord when he is doing his job that he wouldn't dare be dishonest because then if he did, the Lord would stop helping him. He is definitely a good man and a blessing to us!

So why did you not post a picture of that Latter-day Saint so we all could see the face of an honest repair man. What a blessing.

What a blessing!!!! it does suck that you still need to replace it, but I'm glad you are all cooled off for now. You could be here, I had to turn the heater on this morning!!! We got up at 6am to go to the temple with Mom and Dad and I was freezing. The kids were all balled up in their beds freezing, so I broke down and turned the heater on for a half hour or so. The weather here has been horrible.
